No Specialised skills or experience are required. This role is an opportunity for you to offer your time and effort to people who are isolated , depressed, anxious, stressed who generally find social integration a challenge because they are negatively impacted by mental illness.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. You just need to be over the age of 18.

-To simply spend time with people experiencing mental ill health according to their social needs.

- You will be required to provide weekly reports/feedback to the volunteer coordinator via email

- Attend regular group supervision sessions with volunteer coordinator

- Ensure to contact volunteer coordinator and service user if you need to cancel a visit

- Attend any mandatory training required for the role

- Adhere to service policy on confidentiality, safeguarding,  professional boundaries and safe lone working

- Alert the volunteer coordinator if you have any issues or concerns for the client's well-being

What’s the application process?

To become a volunteer you’ll be asked to complete an application form, provide the names of two referees and have an informal interview. We’ll supply you with an outline of the work you’ll be undertaking and a volunteer agreement.

The object of this is to try, as far as possible, to match your motivation and expectations to what we need from a volunteer.

All applicants are required to carry out a check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) before you can start.


Once these stages of the recruitment process has been completed applicants will be required to attend an accredited training program conducted by the volunteer coordinator before you commence your role.


The matching process :

We ensure that matching is suitable for both parties. Volunteers and service users will be matched based on their common interests.

Can you claim expenses?

We can’t make payments or offer accommodation to you for undertaking voluntary work for us. However, we will reimburse you for legitimate expenses you’ve incurred such as travel costs.

How much time will you be expected to commit?

We’re grateful for whatever time you’re able to give but we would ask for a minimum of 2 hours a week. The amount of time needed is different for each match. This will be discussed and agreed with you during the application process
